Trapezium
Trapezium in the USA or, trapezoid in the UK is a four-sided plane figure that has only one pair of-parallel straight line segments .
The sum of the internal angles, as well as the exterior angle is always equal to 360 degrees;
The non-parallel sides of the trapezium are called simply sides or legs, while, the two parallel straight line segments are called the bases. Every trapezoid has
two bases.
An isosceles trapezoid is a trapezium that has two equal sides and base angles.
The right-angled trapezoid is a trapezium that has two angles of 90 degrees or two right-angled.
When a trapezium is simultaneously a right trapezoid and isosceles trapezoid is called: right isosceles trapezoid.
Scalene trapezoid is a trapezium whose the measures of non-parallel sides are unequal.
Main elements of the trapezium:
a) Area;
b) Perimeter: Sum of the lengths of the bases and sides;
c) Altitude: perpendicular distance from the base to the other.
d) Median: line joining the midpoints of two sides;
e) Diagonal: straight line segment connecting the vertices of an angle to its opposite.
